Point News247 reports that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has been granted access to commence live broadcast of its programmes.

The service announced on Wednesday that it received a broadcast licence from the National Broadcasting Commission to gear up with Direct Satellite Broadcasting as well as Internet Protocol Television.

The NYSC Director-General, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim made this known in Abuja earlier today after receiving the broadcast licence from his NBC counterpart, Mallam Balarabe Ilela.

Presenting the license, Ilela praised the NYSC programme as one of the successful achievements of the Yakubu Gowon’s administration.

He said the scheme has achieved its purpose of uniting the country in several ways and also contributing immensely to national development.

Ilela added that with the approval, the Federal Government would give more voice to the scheme “to tell the NYSC story; especially its tremendous achievements to the whole world”.

The NBC Director-General added: “The commission normally gives licence in trust and we believe this will be used for the purpose it is given. We are very proud to be part of your progress. With somebody like you, we are sure our license is in safe hands.”

He, however, said the NYSC radio license was underway.

In his remark, while receiving the license, Ibrahim said that since his assumption of duty he has been passionate about the NYSC having its own radio and television stations, stating that it is quite fulfilling that the dream has come to fruition.
