Sports entrepreneur Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe has frowned at Journalists using and quoting him when he didn’t give them any interview, says he can’t be used to fight personal battle as he threatens to sue culprits should there be a repeat.
Recall that an online sports platform (SportsNow) has quoted Gara Gombe for criticising the AthIetics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) over Paris Olympic Games AthIetes selection.
To this end, the former Chairman of Gombe United football club denied ever granting interview to any Journalists insisting that he has not seen the AthIetes selection list and couldn’t have reacted negatively when he has not seen or perused the list.
Gombe said, throughout last week I was busy with the organisation and execution of secondary schools AthIetics Games Masters Workshop in Gombe State and the writer neither called nor sought my opinion about AFN AthIetes selection, so, how come the writer was quoting me when I didn’t speak to him.
The Chairman of Gombe State Athletics Association also reiterated that the writer had done this in the past when he quoted him for organizing a meeting of the Northern AthIetics Chairman in Kaduna. “I was not even in the country when SportsNow made such malicious allegations”.
Consequently, Gombe however said enough is enough and will sue any Journalist that tries it next time for damages in Court.
If I have seen the AFN list and was quoted out of context, that’s a different thing, but putting in writing what I didn’t say is a criminal act and I will take a legal action if it repeats itself, Gombe warned.
“My fight with people is not personal but for the interest of the nation and that’s when an institution was abused, SportsNow can’t use me to fight personal battle, this is the last warning
