Innocent Eneta, Editor of Daily Global News (Print and Online), has been honoured for his remarkable contribution to journalism at the 2024 Nestle Nigeria Media Awards.

Eneta secured the 2nd Prize in the “Best Story on Nutrition” category for his insightful article titled “Combating Malnutrition in Nigeria Through Accessible and Nutritious Food Solutions: A Collaborative Approach.”

The prestigious awards ceremony took place on December 19, 2024, at the 157 Gardens & Event Centre, Ikorodu Road, Lagos, and brought together journalists from various media organisations to celebrate excellence, innovation, and integrity in Nigerian journalism.

Nestle Nigeria, organisers of the awards, announced the winners after receiving 285 entries across seven categories. The “Best Story on Nutrition” category specifically honoured impactful reporting on Nigeria’s ongoing struggle with malnutrition.

Speaking at the event, a Nestle Nigeria representative stressed the significance of the awards in promoting responsible journalism. “The media has the power to inform, educate, and inspire change. We are proud to recognise journalists who exemplify excellence in their work,” the spokesperson said.

Eneta’s award-winning article tackled Nigeria’s alarming malnutrition crisis, offering collaborative solutions that involve government bodies, the private sector, and NGOs. His piece highlighted the urgent need for accessible, nutritious food for Nigerians of all ages.

In his remarks, Eneta expressed his appreciation for the recognition. “This award is a reminder of how journalism can address pressing societal issues,” he said.

“I am grateful to Nestle Nigeria and my team at Daily Global News for their support. This motivates me to continue telling stories that drive positive change.”

The event was a celebration of journalistic achievements and underscored Nestle Nigeria’s commitment to promoting media integrity and responsibility.
