Passing of Vintage Journalist, David Adekunle Leaves AMJON In Grief.

The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) regrets to announce the passing of David Gbemisola Adekunle whose untimely death occurred on Sunday, 4th January, 2026.

The President of AMJON, Vera Osokpo, and members of the group are devastated by the sad news of Adekunle’s demise.
An obituary of his passing has already been announced by the family.

It reads: “With total submission to the will of Almighty God, the family of Adekunle hereby announces the passing of our beloved son, brother, husband, father, and uncle, late David Gbemisola Adekunle aka Honourable, who passed onto glory on Sunday, January 4, 2026.”
It stated that the Service of Songs would hold on Monday, January 12, 2026, by 4:00 pm at No. 5, Lawal Close, Abule Taylor, U-Turn Bustop, Abule Egba, Lagos.
The funeral, according to the details released by the family, will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:00am at Lantoro Cemetery, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Until his death, Adekunle was a staff of Voice of Nigeria (VON) as well as a member of AMJON.
He is survived by his wife and children
Speaking on the unfortunate development, President of AMJON, Vera Osokpo, described Adekunle’s passing as shocking and devastating.
