Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Chairman Wale Babalakin and Air Peace Chairman Allen Onyema are expected to lead discussions at the 30th Annual Conference of the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC).
The conference is scheduled for Thursday, 10 September 2026, at the Providence Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. It will bring together government officials, regulators, airline operators, airport managers, investors and other stakeholders to examine the future of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The event will be held under the theme, “Towards a Sustainable Aviation Industry: Balancing Government Revenue Demands with Sector Growth.” Keyamo will attend as Special Guest of Honour, Babalakin will chair the conference, while Onyema will deliver the keynote address.
The organisers will also launch the second edition of *Champions of Aviation*, a publication documenting the achievements and contributions of aviation agencies, airlines and other industry players.
Chairman of the LAAC Conference Committee, Wole Shadare, said the theme reflects the need to balance public revenue expectations with policies that encourage investment, competition and long-term growth. He noted that aviation remains central to economic development, trade, tourism and national integration, but warned that rising fiscal pressures and multiple charges could affect the sector’s competitiveness.
Shadare said the conference would provide a platform for policymakers, regulators and operators to develop practical recommendations for strengthening the aviation ecosystem. Discussions are expected to cover sustainable financing, regulatory policy, infrastructure development, the investment climate and operational efficiency.
LAAC Chairman Sulaiman Idris said the conference reflects the association’s three-decade commitment to promoting informed debate on issues affecting the aviation sector. He said the annual event had earned the confidence of industry stakeholders by consistently addressing current challenges and contributing to policy discussions.
The organisers are inviting aviation professionals, government agencies, private operators, financial institutions and other members of the public interested in the industry to participate. The conference will also consider how government can increase revenue without undermining airline viability, airport development and the overall growth of Nigeria’s aviation market.
