Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has explained why he ordered the arrest of four estate guards and a woman, who was said to be a widow. Point News247 reports that Odumosu, who was recently promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), is due to retire this month. Edo Airport Project: Gov. Obaseki’s Decision On Location Meets Community’s Rejection
The Okpella community in the Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, has rejected plans by the State Government to relocate the proposed airport from the area. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the arrest of private security guards at Brooks Estate, Magodo, Isheri for allegedly delaying and denying him entrance into the estate. Point News247 reports that the Presidential Candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa is dead. Tofa was MKO Abiola’s major challenger in the controversial June 12, 1993, presidential election, annulled by the military government of General Ibrahim Babangida. According to family sources, he died in the early hours of Monday after an illness. Confirming his death, one of the deceased’s relations, Alhaji Muhammad, said “Alhaji Bashir tofa died after being admitted in hospital for sometime.” Tofa was aged 74.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said the N30bn Revitalisation Fund and N22.5bn Earned Academic Allowance totalling N52.5bn released by the Federal Government is not enough to deal with the challenges facing the university system.
