The publisher of Cross River Watch was arrested following an allegation of treason by the Cross River State Governor, Benedict Ayade. Jalingo was first arrested by the Police in August 2019. The Kogi State Government has said that police brutality against youths in the country must be kicked against. Nigeria’s Apex Court has affirmed the appointment of Justice Ijeoma Agugua as chief judge of Imo State and struck out the suit against her as incompetent.
