Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of Dr. Usman Abba Arabi as Chairman of the newly established Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC), alongside five other commissioners. The appointments, which took effect from 21 January 2026, were earlier forwarded to the Gombe State House of Assembly and have since been confirmed in line with the law establishing the commission.

Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, said the formation of the GOSERC leadership team reflects the Governor’s commitment to building a transparent, efficient, and investor‑friendly electricity market in Gombe. The commission’s mandate is to regulate the state’s emerging power sector, enforce technical and economic standards, safeguard consumer interests, and attract investments in urban and rural electricity infrastructure.

The newly confirmed team consists of Dr. Usman Abba Arabi as Chairman, alongside Commissioners Sule Usman, Abubakar Sa’ad, Ahmed Ibrahim Pindiga, Lydia Ali, and Talatu Abubakar. Governor Yahaya expressed confidence that the commission will provide the regulatory backbone needed to expand access to electricity, especially in underserved communities, and to support the state’s industrialisation and broader economic development agenda as Nigeria’s power sector continues to decentralise.
