Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled a new photo book, *Sanwo-Olu: Against All Odds, A Photo Story of Resilience in the Face of Adversity*, as a visual record of his administration’s journey and the state’s transformation. The book, authored by his Executive Assistant and official photographer, Ademola Olaniran, highlights resilience, continuity and the spirit of Lagos.
The launch, held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, drew top political, traditional and business figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s representative, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, along with Governors Hope Uzodinma and Babagana Zulum. Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat described the publication as more than a book, calling it a preservation of history through photography and a tribute to leadership and public service.
Sanwo-Olu said the book is unusual because it documents a sitting administration in real time rather than reflecting on it years later. He said the true subject of the book is Lagos itself, pointing to ordinary residents, workers and students as the real story behind the administration’s achievements. He also recalled the difficult moments of his first term, including COVID-19, the EndSARS protests, the Abule-Ado explosion and other emergencies that tested the state’s resilience.
The governor highlighted major milestones such as the Blue and Red Rail Lines, the Lekki Deep Sea Port, housing, healthcare, education and food-security investments. He said Lagos’ success rests on continuity, noting that successive administrations built on one another’s progress rather than tearing it down.
Olaniran said the project was meant as a faithful visual testimony to governance under extraordinary circumstances, not a manufactured narrative. He added that the work involved a team of 11 professionals who documented the administration over several years, aiming to preserve a truthful record for future generations.
At the event, speakers praised the book as a valuable archive of Lagos’ development and a reminder that leadership is not only about policy but also about the people affected by it.
