The Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards has announced that its 5th edition will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the Agip Recital Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
Organised by the Academy of Gospel Music in Nigeria, the awards will celebrate excellence, creativity, consistency and impact in gospel music while also promoting a nationwide mental health awareness campaign. The organisers said the initiative will use music, media, faith communities and strategic partnerships to encourage hope, emotional wellbeing and healing, especially among young Nigerians.
Kingsley Omoefe, Founder and Team Lead of NIGMA, said the awards are not a competition but a platform to recognise and celebrate individuals and organisations making meaningful contributions to gospel music and society. He said the goal is to inspire future generations and strengthen the role of gospel music as a force for faith, hope and national development.
The event is expected to attract gospel artists, music ministers, media practitioners, corporate bodies, faith-based institutions, policymakers and other industry stakeholders. Guests will experience live performances, special recognitions, red-carpet moments, networking opportunities and conversations around the social impact of gospel music.
Project PR Consultant Nsikak Daniels said NIGMA has grown beyond a typical awards ceremony into a platform for inspiration, transformation and positive influence. He added that the 2026 edition will highlight the best of the gospel music industry while creating space for meaningful dialogue on mental health and community wellbeing.
The organisers invited sponsors, partners, media organisations, churches and members of the public to be part of the event, which they described as one of the most impactful editions yet.
