Maritime Police Command has described its actions on port operations as lawful and constitutional , saying that the specialised force is not usurping on the functions of other relevant government agencies at the ports. No fewer than 15 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) under on the platform of the Coalition of Civil Society for Rule of Law and Justice have demanded the immediate resignation of acting Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Comptroller General Carol Wura-Ola for violating civil service rules on retirement. Officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos Seaports and Marine Command has intercepted five females suspected to be victims of human trafficking along the waterways of Badagry coastal community. The victims were apprehended alongside one Mrs Blessing Anireta (26) who was without any means of identity or livelihood. The Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) has cautioned the Nigeria Police and other agencies at the nation’s ports to stop interfering with the statutory roles of the Nigeria Customs (NCS) at the ports.
