NSC Commends Lekki Port for Improvement in Maritime Sector

The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers Council , Pius Ukeyima Akutah has commended Lekki Port for its remarkable progress and its pivotal role in advancing Nigeria’s maritime sector.

During a courtesy visit to the state-of-the-art maritime facility on 5th June ,2023 Akutah emphasised several strategic priorities that can be put in place to develop the maritime sector.
He stated the Council’s commitment to advocating fair pricing mechanisms and ensuring smooth, efficient port operations to support competitiveness.

He encouraged Lekki Port’s management to intensify marketing and stakeholder engagement efforts, both domestically and globally, to highlight the Port’s world-class infrastructure and services.

The NSC CEO reaffirmed the Council’s continued advocacy for the implementation of the National Single Window initiative, aimed at streamlining cargo clearance processes and improving ease of doing business.

Describing Lekki Deep Sea Port as “the most successful Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project in Nigeria,” he expressed confidence that this transformative model would inspire similar investments across the country.

The management of Lekki Port appreciated the Nigerian Shippers’ Council for the impactful visit.The expressed commitment to deepening collaboration with NSC to drive efficiency, innovation, and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s maritime industry.
