Gunmen have ‘killed PDP leader in Niger, abduct his three daughters’
Gunmen, suspected to be bandits, have killed a man identified as Ahmodu Mohammed, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kampala ward, Bosso local government area of Niger state.
The deceased’s three daughters were also reportedly kidnapped by the gunmen.
Mohammed was said to have been killed on Thursday when the attackers, said to have numbered about 15, invaded his house around 2am, after two previous raids in the community and at a neighbourhood market.
The ward chairman has, however, been reportedly buried according to Islamic rites.
The police public relations officer (PPRO) in Niger state, Wasiu Abiodun, did not respond to calls by pointNewsd to confirm the incident.
There has been a spike in attacks by bandits in Niger and other states in the north in recent times.
Mohammed reported killing comes days after gunmen raided Madaka village in Rafi local government area in Niger state, which led to the death of at least three people and the attack occurred on December 20, 2020.
The development also comes weeks after gunmen raided Ukuru village in Mariga local government area of the state, which led to the death of 14 residents.
