Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has slammed the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government over alleged poor management of the nation’s economy.
Point News247 reports that Atiku made this comment at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national elective convention in Abuja. He scored the All Progressives Congress (APC) government low on virtually all development and growth indices.
Atiku insisted that President Buhari had simply failed to make the most of the opportunity Nigerians availed him when he was first elected in 2015 and again in 2019.
In his words; “Today, our country is going through the most trying and difficult period of its existence. I can tell you that I am 70 years plus but I have never seen this country in such a very bad shape, so disunited, so much unemployment, so much insecurity in its history”.
Meanwhile, the party has adopted a list of consensus candidates at the national convention taking place at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Before the convention, the 13 PDP governors made it clear they weren’t interested in a fierce political contest but in a consensus arrangement that would see them pick the 21-man national officers’ list to serve the party in the next four years.
