As Edo citizens prepare for this year’s yuletide season, the state deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu has given government’s assurance of guaranteed security of lives and property.
The deputy governor gave the assurance while speaking at his Thanksgiving serviceon Sunday December 13, 2020 at St. Philip Catholic Church in Jettu, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state
Comrade Philip Shaibu said the State Government is on top of the security situation of the state.
He stated to all present that, “We are making efforts to make sure that all Edo Indigenes are able to Celebrate Christmas peacefully without fear of insecurity”.
Giving thanks to God for his mercies and Faithfulness, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu said the Edo Governorship Election is the first Election in the history of Nigeria where both the APC, PDP and other Political Parties came together to support Godwin Obaseki and himself for the purpose of peace and sustainable development of Edo State, adding that their victory is a victory for the peace and unending development of the State.
He expressed the view that, Nigerians should see competition and contention as a source of energy, innovation and inspiration.
“We must come together as a nation in recognising our shared interests in placing boundaries on our competition in order not to divide the nation into hostile and irreconcilable camps. This dangerous impasse is one of the areas where the wisdom of Governor Godwin Obaseki has reigned supreme”.
“We have a Governor who is selfless, he doesn’t think about himself but about the State and about the next generation. Obaseki is indeed a selfless Governor.
“We have restored justice for the less privileged in the society and our biggest goal towards the poor is to improve their prospects and productivity. We must all join hands together to build a virtuous society. We must not let go of our moral code of discipline society”, he urged.
The Deputy Governor also described his wife, Comrade Mrs Maryann Philip Shaibu, as the Pillar behind his Political journey.
“When you have a wife that stands with you and by you, not only to think for you but to also support your mission, then you must be a successful man. My wife has been supportive as a prayer warrior and partner” Comrade Shaibu enthused.
Speaking on his conflict with the former APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshionhole, the Deputy Governor said: “Adams Oshiomhole taught me all I know now politically. He made me stand my ground and helped us end godfatherism. I have no quarrel with Adams Oshiomhole”.
Earlier in his homily titled: “Rejoice In The Lord”, Rev. Father Godrick Shabba admonished believers to be strong in the Lord and always return Glory to God for his faithfulness, saying that it is a heart of gratitude to God that brought the Deputy Governor and his family to the House of God in returning Glory to him.
Rev’d Shabba who noted that authority comes from God and He gives and places people in power, called on the Deputy Governor of Edo State Comrade Philip Shaibu to continuously be his brother’s keeper as he has always done.
“The people elected you and reposed their confidence in you as their Messiah through their votes. The task before you may appear as uphill, but with God all things are possible”.
He then admonished Comrade Shaibu to always remember the word of God as his guide as he carries out the official task ahead of him.
Traditional rulers and top political statesmen that also converged on Edo state for the Thanksgiving service of the deputy governor and his wife, Comrade Mrs Maryann Shaibu lauded the achievements of the nunber 2 citizen of the state.
These relevant stakeholders who came from all works of life for the event, testify that, Comrade Philip Shaibu’s
character is impeccable whilst appreciating God for the 2nd term opportunity given to him to serve Edo citizens.
Those who spoke at the thanksgiving Service, included the Okumagbe of Uwanno Kingdom HRM Dr George Egabor,JP, Rev Father Godrick Shabba, Reverend Father Gabriel Dunia, Father Ikhane, Akhigbe, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Paschal Ugbome, Traditional ruler of Uzairue, Senator Isa Braimah, Damian Lawani, among other Political stakeholders.
In their presentations, they all said the deputy governor has an eye for discovering talented people, describing him, as a man of deep strategy who had mentored many young people into Politics.
According to the speakers, Comrade Philip Shaibu is a leader with an exceptional knack for initiating well considered strategies for Political stability in Edo State,adding that, he has extended his hands of fellowship to every nook and cranny of the State.
Speaking further, they all pointed out that, comrade Shaibu is a leading Political figure with a towering Political presence, describing him further as a man of the people with great attachment to his root, who is also gifted with the skill of navigating difficult Political situations and brokering solutions suitable to all situation.
They all agreed that the Edo State Deputy Governor has endeared himself to the people of Edo State with his stints and sterling performances in office, both in the Legislative arm of Government and in the executive.

described the Obaseki administration as an Agricultural friendly administration and called on the people of the State to massively invest in Agriculture.
Others who extolled his virtues in an interview with journalists during the Thanksgiving service, described the Deputy Governor as the Camel that traverse the Political dessert and jungle with distinct footprints on the sands of time.
