President Muhammadu Buhari and all other political leaders have been urged to wake up from their slumber and nip in the bud the incessant killing of innocent NigerIans.
A presidential aspirant under Accord party, Prof. Christopher Imumolen gave the charge Wednesday while briefing journalists in Lagos.
Prof. Imumolen stated that,a war has been declared on the Nation, attributing the cause of the continuous attack on Nigeria to lackadaisical attitude of the leaders.
He stated that,” I begin to ask myself how did we get to this situation and it is as a result of the lackadaisical attitude of the leaders and the incompetence of those who currently lead and run the affairs of this country.
“It is high time for NigerIans to begin to speak the truth and the truth is needed because we need to revive this country.
*If one thousand men can be kidnapped and many killed and nobody knows where they are at this point,it means that the country is not safed.
“We are at a time where the president, vice president, Governors, senators should not be sleeping because if we are under attack and eat has been declared on this nation.if we decide to keep quiet,it might just be your turn, who knows. This men moves in hundreds just to lay Siegel in every location they find themselves.
I am speaking not just as a presidential hopeful but as a concerned NigerIan. You know my father used to tell me a story of how Ahmadu Bello,Tafawa Balewa travelled to the USA and they were treated as kings because NigerIa has the placement”.
“In 1978, Mandela himself came to NigerIa to get mobilizer support because this were the close friends we had.In 1983, the Malaysian government flee to NigerIa to learn oil palm plantation, today, Malaysian government is one of the best in oil palm plantation and NigerIa is no where to be found..
“NigerIa as a country has lost it because of the greediness, insincerity of those that leads us and if all of us ,even the pressmen who are careful and everybody who are being careful to speak continue to wallow in fearand refused to speak up,the National will be worst for it.
He also lamented the continuous strike by ASUU saying the disruption of academic programme by ASUU strikes keeps frustrating the aspirations of Nigerian students whom to him are just idle on the streets rather than being in school” We need to start having serious government, those that value life, Education, value the system and will be able to utilize the economy.
“I have called for this press briefing today to speak and act my voice to every concerned NigerIan out there whose crying,to every mother out there who has lost a child,to every wife out there who has lost her husband”.
He pointed out that, the roads in NigerIa are death traps expressing anger that people now avoid the roads when traveling. He however warned that if Government does not tackle the problems on time, NigerIans will experience more life threatening problems.
“All that is happening is a warning that, very soon, Aircraft might be bombed down in this country and nothing will happen, very soon we might be shocked that terrible things will happen and everybody is careful and we are keeping quiet, even if i go in for this election and try my best,it is not enough for me to keep quiet,we must still speak.how would we have a country where a priest will be kidnapped and 44 people will be kidnapped in Niger”.
The presidential hopeful emphasized that NigerIa never had Security from 1960 arguing that people should stop believing or saying that the Nation’s Security has collapsed insisting that, there is no deliberate plan to enforce security in NigerIa” there was no plan to enforce Security in NigerIa since 1960, we were no growing our Security strength at par with the population growth,Any little Security challenge can not be curbed because we are not growing Security infrastructure. So it not a matter of collapse,it is matter of there was no deliberate growth to ensure that the security of NigerIa matchup with the geometric rate at which NigerIa is growing so, NigerIan government and NigerIan people need to rise up and ensure that a NigerIan life is safe.
“Imagine a minister saying he warned that lives would have been lost because the needed billion,we had a government who was blaming the previous government and now they are blaming themselves for the woes and failure’s that had happened. The lives that were lost was more than three billion, how will NigerIa be so lackadaisical to the extent that lives of hundreds or thousands of people have been lost within a year”.
” I am not speaking like this just to antagonize government,I have been speaking like this in the past fifteen years so that our Nation Nigeria can get back itself to the map of prosperous ones in the world.
On the way forward,he said NigerIa needs right leadership in right position
“I have travelled to so many Nations and have seen how nation’s are being run and I understand that the only way we can move this country forward is to begin to think of leadership right,is for common NigerIans who are hungry, of cause I know they have been deliberately put in that position so that when it is election they can easily sell their votes to begin to stand and say we need to ensure that the right persons are put in those positions. We are two hundred million NigerIans,if two hundred million people decides and stand genuinely, believe me we don’t have any differences, the difference we think we have are caused by politicians who use those tools to divide us”,
Speaking on his presidential ambition,he said he will take power through engagement and not violence,” we are not going to wait for power to o be given to us, we will take power from them not by violence but by engagement and by ensuring that we do what is rightful”.
“NigerIans are tired,if you go out there you will know that NigerIans don’t want these old ones again, the only reason they are voting for them is because they also feel there is nobody, yes but for now,we have somebody who is out, profesor Chris is out and we are going to engage these ones”.
Responding to question on the Nation having no policy or rather lacks power of implementation, the presidential hopeful stated that,”systematic development of a digital economy is the solution,”if you have policies and those policies must be implemented by the people largely, you might not get it done but when the system by itself implements the policies, because any system that has so many human involvement to get things done usually will be very difficult to get it done so let us digitize it ,so let there be digital economy to enforce policy implementation ” he concluded
